So our numero uno hockey queen has decided to get married. Ladies and gentlemen, Carrie Underwood is no longer on the market. The most beautiful blonde in America tied the knot with Ottawa Senators center Mike Fisher Saturday at the Ritz Carlton Lodge, Reynolds Plantation in Greensboro, Georgia before 250 friends and family.
Those in attendance included Faith Hill, Tim McGraw, Simon Cowell, Paula Abdul, and Randy Jackson. Carrie wore a gorgeous Chantilly lace dress by Monique Lhuillier. Photos will not be released to the public. The two had been dating for a year before Fisher popped the question last December.
The wedding ceremony included readings from the couple’s favorite Bible verses accompanied by classical music. They released a joint statement that said, “We could not feel more blessed to have found each other and to have shared this day with our friends and family that mean so much to us!” They signed it “Mike & Carrie Fisher.” The couple will reportedly vacation in Bora Bora and Tahiti.
Denver Nuggets star (for how long?) Carmelo Anthony also wed actress and former MTV VJ LaLa Vazquez at Cipriani’s on 42nd Street in New York City on Saturday. The star-studded attendees included LeBron James, Amar’e Stoudemire, Chris Paul, Kim Kardashian, Ciara, Serena Williams, and Spike Lee.
According to reports, Paul allegedly said, “We’ll form our own big three.” That big three would refer to the trio of Anthony, Stoudemire, and Paul. Fittingly, James was booed upon arrival by onlookers outside of Cipriani’s.
As for the bride, she took no part in the basketball gossip. She tweeted out on Sunday:
@lalavazquez Thank u guys for all ur congratulations…last night was truly the most AMAZING night of my life…thank u to everyone who shared it w/me!
Later, she tweeted:
@lalavazquez Best night of my entire life. Thank u to all my family and friends who shared tonight with me. I love u. I’m on cloud 9 right now.
The couple had been engaged since 2004. Their 3-year-old son Kiyan escorted them down the aisle.
Congratulations to both happy couples. The sports world deserves sappy, joyful celebrations after the amount of animosity it endured leading up to and after the James announcement. New York, be patient. Your big three just might be around the corner.
