#SSsports Chat Topics 10/20/10

I am moderating a weekly sports Twitter chat on Wednesdays at 8pm from the account @SusanShanChat. There is only one requirement: please hashtag all tweets with #SSsports. To find out more about the chat, click here. Also, be sure to check back tomorrow to see if you’ve made the highlights! For tonight’s #SSsports Twitter Chat, we will discuss the following topics:

1. NFL: Officials apparently asked Tennessee Titans coach Jeff Fisher to take two timeouts for network commercials at the end of Monday night’s game. There is speculation that Jacksonville Jaguars coach Jack Del Rio took the timeouts after Fisher declined. What are your thoughts on this seemingly outrageous request that apparently occurs regularly in the NFL?

2. NFL: Last Sunday’s dangerous hits caused the NFL to impose a $75,000 fine on Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker James Harrison and $50,000 fines on New England Patriots safety Brandon Meriweather and Atlanta Falcons cornerback Dunta Robinson. Now, Harrison is contemplating retirement. Is he serious or just being a drama queen? Meriweather has apologized for his hit but has said that he won’t change his game and will continue to be aggressive. Is the real problem the aggressiveness of the players, the leniency of the punishments, or something else?

3. MLB: Open chat. Playoffs galore!
