#SSsports Chat Topics 2/2/11

Welcome to Super Bowl XLV edition of the #SSsports chat. Please follow the chat from the Twitter account @SusanShanChat. There is only one requirement: please hashtag all tweets with #SSsports. To find out more about the chat, click here. Also, be sure to check back tomorrow to see if you’ve made the highlights! For tonight’s #SSsports Twitter Chat, we will discuss the following topics:

1. MLB: Albert Pujols has set a deadline of Feb. 19 for his contract negotiations. Like Buster Olney wrote, “After he begins spring training, Pujols does not want his agent, Dan Lozano, to discuss a contract with the Cardinals because he doesn’t want to have any distractions, a stance he has taken throughout his career.” Olney is also reporting that Pujols wants “something in the neighborhood of the 10-year, $275 million deal that Alex Rodriguez signed with the Yankees in fall 2007.” Can the Cardinals sign Pujols before the deadline or will Pujols end up testing the free agent market?

2. NCAA FB: National Signing Day. Who are the winners and losers of the SEC? ESPN rates Florida St. (non-SEC school) as the big winner. Do you agree with ESPN? Watch the video below where Kirk Herbstreit raves about Florida St. and USC.

3. NFL: Since this is the Super Bowl XLV edition of the #SSsports chat, how can the chat go on without a Super Bowl XLV topic? Here’s to an open discussion about how two of the greatest NFL franchises will meet on Sunday night for that coveted Lombardi Trophy.
