#SSsports Chat Topics 2/16/11

It has been a slow week in sports. I must ask you to forgive me for the slightly less than compelling topics for this week’s chat. Please follow the chat from the Twitter account @SusanShanChat. There is only one requirement: please hashtag all tweets with #SSsports. To find out more about the chat, click here. Also, be sure to check back tomorrow to see if you’ve made the highlights! For tonight’s #SSsports Twitter Chat, we will discuss the following topics:

1. YAHOO!’s Jeff Passan thinks that C.C. Sabathia will opt out of his contract with the New York Yankees after the 2011 season. He’s going out on a limb, but the logic is sound. Do you think Sabathia will really do it?

2. NCAABB: BYU’s Jimmer Fredette is the hottest thing in college basketball right now. NBA scouts rate him anywhere from Stephen Curry and Danny Ainge to J.J. Redick and Adam Morrison. What are your thoughts on Fredette’s potential as an NBA pro?

3. NFL: The negotiations between the owners and players got a little heated in a Feb. 5 bargaining session in Dallas; Carolina Panthers owner Jerry Richardson behaved quite rudely toward Peyton Manning, Drew Brees, and Sean Morey. The attitude emanating from the negotiations appears to show a lack of mutual respect from the owners’ end. Are we truly headed for a lockout, or at the very least, missed games?
