This year’s NCAA Tournament has lived up to the hype. The field of 68 has been trimmed to 16 and includes four double-digit seeds. Thus, today’s #SSsports chat will be called the Sweet 16 edition.
As always, please follow the chat from the Twitter account @SusanShanChat. There is only one requirement: please hashtag all tweets with #SSsports. To find out more about the chat, click here. Also, be sure to check back tomorrow to see if you’ve made the highlights!
For tonight’s #SSsports Twitter Chat, we will discuss the following topics:
1. NCAA BB: The NCAA Tournament is quite possibly the greatest sporting event in the nation. Who can we expect to see in Houston for the Final Four? Can Butler make it two years in a row? Which game are you most looking forward to?
2. MLB: The New York Mets have become a sad, sad story in baseball. They are one of three teams that lost money last year and are one of three teams whose value didn’t increase. Despite a $136 million payroll (fifth in MLB), the Mets finished fourth in their division. Jeff Passan of YAHOO! Sports said that despite “bad contracts, lackadaisical play and general apathy surrounding the franchise,” the biggest problem is that the Wilpons and Saul Katz are still the owners. Kurt Badenhausen of Forbes.com believes that the Mets’ revenue is expected to fall further in 2011. What kind of on-field performance can we expect from the Mets?
3. NBA: Everyone is picking on Carmelo Anthony. Whether it’s criticism of his selfishness or hailing the new, invigorated, Melo-less Nuggets, Anthony has been receiving “elbows” to the face. The Knicks have lost three straight and six of the last seven. Is Melo to blame or is he being unfairly crucified?
